About project
Unigram is a Telegram desktop app for Windows. It is a messaging and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service developed with a focus on privacy and security. Telegram is a giant among messengers worldwide and successfully competes with WhatsApp and Facebook messenger.
Why us
We were chosen to make redesign of Unigram for Windows 11 because we won the previous competition of redesigning video calls and voice chat features for Android (see here). It was unexpected and pleasant to be notified of the opportunity to contribute in the design of such a great product.
the task
Generally, the task was to provide design screens for: a chat list with all types of chats and messages (channels, groups, secret chats, bots, voice and video messages, videos, photos, polls, documents), send files/media, record voice and video messages, voice chats, and 1-to-1 calls, main settings screen.
The challenge
The challenge was that we should strictly follow the design guidelines for Windows 11 so that any deviation could negatively affect further development. We started by studying in detail the guidelines, principles and visual solutions that Windows 11 uses in its design. In addition to that, the task was to combine current Telegram functionality with Windows visual guidelines. In the end, it became quite a rewarding experience 😎.
